With the project at risk of facing an immediate shutdown, Globalink Logistics, Antonov Airlines and a Japanese partner firm deployed an AN-124 to replace a critical 170-tonne power plant turbine rotor in Uzbekistan.
Working closely with several international stakeholders, Globalink designed a custom loading frame to accommodate the oversized rotor inside the AN-124 aircraft. Air operations, heavy lift engineering, ground handling and final site delivery were organised into a single operation.
After landing in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital city, the rotor was discharged using a precision crane lift and transported on a modular heavy-haul trailer directly to the power plant site.
