Wind turbine manufacturer Enercon has used its Scheuerle blade lifter for the first time – to transport components at the Olsbrücken wind farm in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

Two additional Enercon E-138 EP3 turbines with a hub height of 160 m are currently being erected. The challenge involved transporting rotor blades measuring approximately 68 m long through narrow village streets, across railway crossings and along winding rural roads. For this, Enercon deployed its G4 blade lifter trailer from Scheuerle.

It is able to hydraulically raise and tilt rotor blades by up to 60 degrees, meaning transports could be carried out safely and efficiently.

According to TII Scheuerle, Enercon is already planning on the trailer’s next assignment: handling components at the Bingen wind farm near Sigmaringen on Lake Constance.

HLPFI reported earlier this month that China’s Vastwin Engineering Logistics had deployed Scheuerle SPMTs to complete the load-out of the foundation for the Three Gorges Navigator floating wind platform.
