Dubai, UAE-based Modern Freight Company (MFC) has moved a 170-tonne mooring buoy, along with its 24-tonne anchors and 85-tonne shackles.
MFC received, stored and consolidated the pieces at its Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) facility from various origin points. The entire shipment totalled 1,072 tonnes.
The cargo was transported on SPMTs and a convoy made up of 37 trailers. Given the complexities of the logistical move, MFC sought special permissions to move the cargo while roads were temporarily closed. Adjustments were made to the route to ensure the shortest operations time.
MFC then placed the buoy and its accessories onto a chartered vessel for onward travel, with all Customs clearance procedures duly completed.
In November 2024, MFC appointed Praashant Chothani as head of chartering.
