German wind turbine manufacturer, Senvion, has contracted Jan De Nul Group to install 32 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.33 MW, at the Trianel Borkum II offshore wind farm in Germany.

The installation works are planned to start in spring 2019. The project also includes the offshore mechanical completion works.

Jan De Nul is also responsible for the installation of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) export cable at the Trianel Borkum II offshore wind farm; it will also complete he installation of the HVAC export cable, 36 monopolies and transition pipes for the Borkum Riffgrund II offshore wind farm, also located off the Germany coast. 

Meanwhile, the first nacelle for the 309 MW Rentel offshore farm, under development by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, was rolled out of the production facility in Cuxhaven.

The nacelle will stay in in storage at the port until early March, when it will be shipped to the Renewable Energy Base Oostende (REBO) site in Ostend, Belgium.

All offshore wind turbine components for the project, such as nacelles, blades, towers and electrical modules, will be shipped to the REBO site in Ostend where additional assembly activities and load-out on the installation vessel takes place.

Installation activities are planned to start in early May 2018. The entire wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2018.
