Protranser was responsible for picking up the transformers from the factories – in Wuhan and Shanghai – as well as coordinating temporary storage in warehouses; port services; and booking and chartering ocean-going vessels.

The loading operations onboard the ro-ro vessel in Wuhan was a particular challenge. The height of the vessel’s hold was 5 m and initial cargo drawings suggested that the height of the transformer was below 4 m. However, the height was then revised to 4.1 m and then again to 4.15 m. After loading onto a Mafi trailer with the necessary dunnage, the height of the consignment reached 4.98 m, making the operation nearly impossible.

After close communication from the Protranser team, the shipper arranged engineers to remove the pressure gauge on top of the transformer just two days before shipping.
