Measuring 75 m x 48.5 m, the ro-ro pontoon has been designed and built by Ravestein, which is based in the Netherlands.

It is currently on route to the port of Sheerness in the UK along with platforms, fendering, and catwalks, which will be installed onto the driven tubular piles to allow for mooring. The pontoon forms part of Peel Ports’ plan to increase ro-ro capacity at Sheerness, which also includes the development of an in-river vessel berth.

Elsewhere, Ravestein is expanding its fleet with the addition of the semi-submersible pontoon, Skyline Barge 30. Joining the fleet from May 19, the 74.7 m x 22 m x 4 m pontoon is well suited for heavy transport and offshore support operations and features a maximum deck load of 15 tonnes per sq m. According to Ravestein, the addition of Skyline Barge 30 reinforces its “commitment to continuously invest in high-quality and versatile work platforms for both national and international clients”.
