Indian project logistics specialist Total Movements has moved a 311-tonne water flash drum to one of the biggest petroleum refineries in India, deploying a multimodal approach for the shipment.

Total Movements’ scope included the road movement of the water flash drum to the nearest jetty; rolling the drum safely onto a barge; coastal transport to the closest port near the refinery; as well as final inland delivery and placement on its foundation.
“From the supplier’s factory to the refinery foundation, this drum travelled by road, by barge, and through challenging terrain,” a Total Movements spokesperson explained.
The company encountered some obstacles along the way, including heavy monsoon rainfall, tidal limitations at both ports, and road infrastructure challenges and over-dimensional restrictions which required thorough planning and careful execution.
Total Movements is a member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in India. Last month, HLPFI reported that its fellow WWPC member Ambercor Shipping delivered a mill shell from China to the USA, meanwhile in November Total Movements promoted Deepak Singh to assist general manager.
