Safe Lifting Europe has performed the overload test on a 1,600-tonne capacity main crane from Liebherr in Rostock, Germany.

After receiving the request on short notice, Safe Lifting mobilised all required materials – transporting six truckloads – to Rostock within a week. The task involved lifting a load of 1,760 tonnes, using equipment from Safe Lifting and a full setup of water bags.
The company provided engineering services, drawings, shackles, grommets, polyester roundslings, HMPE roundslings, spreaders, water bags, load cells, pumps, and over 1,000 m of water-filling hoses. Working 50 m off the quay added an extra layer of complexity, as Safe Lifting had to ensure sufficient water flow to reach the required load.
Thanks to meticulous planning the load test ran smoothly and ahead of schedule, enabling Liebherr to resume normal operations sooner than expected.
