Crane service provider Sarilar has utilised a CC 6800-1 lattice boom crawler crane from Terex to erect a building at the Adana Sugözü coal-fired power plant, on behalf of Termokimik.

The project involved the lifting of steel structures that had a length of over 50 m and weighed 265 tonnes.

Before Sarilar could start the lifting operations, the CC 6800-1 crane had to be transported from Gebze, near Istanbul, to the work site in Adana in the south of Turkey.

“Our convoy of just under 30 transport trucks and five heavy-haulage lowbed trailers needed almost two weeks to complete the 900 km journey,” explained Sarilar technical Manager Zafer Yazici, who was responsible for the project.

Once the convoy arrived at the work site in Adana, the rigging team configured the 1,250-tonne capacity crawler crane. The team chose a 72 m main boom and a 42 m luffing jib to lift the components to heights of up to 100 m.
