The project, which is being developed at the Ii municipality in Northern Ostrobothnia, comprises 30 wind turbines. Wind energy developer Ilmatar selected Silvasti as its transport, crane and installation (TCI) contractor, as HLPFI reported here.

Silvasti said that this TCI concept enabled efficient project execution, cost savings and smaller environmental footprint, with the project completed without any lost time incidents (LTI) and ahead of schedule.

Antti Lehtinen, procurement director of Ilmatar, said: “Utilising the TCI concept at Pahkakoski brought us significant cost savings. The savings were generated from efficient project management and execution, minimising waiting times for the cranes and transports and by reducing the magnitude of required civil construction. We need to construct roads and hardstands for the project, but don’t want to cut trees unnecessarily.”

For the Pahkakoski project, Silvasti cooperated with BMS Heavy Cranes, which provided the cranes, and Global Wind Service, which executed the installation works.
