Late last year, Van der Vlist transported a cruise vessel from Kędzierzyn-Koźle in Poland to Lake Windermere in the UK on behalf of the manufacturer Damen Shipyards.

Windermere Lake Cruises will operate the 34 m-long vessel, named Swift. It was transported across 15 truckloads, with all of the sections individually manufactured in Poland.

The project was overseen by Van der Vlist’s Dutch office with support from its branch in Poland, which executed the road transport; Van der Vlist’s UK division completed the route surveys, obtained permits, coordinated escort vehicles and arranged cranes for offloading at the final destination.

With a fleet of over 200 trucks and trailers, Van der Vlist said it is capable of handling a wide variety of long, high or wide cargoes. Over the course of 2019, the company added more than 60 new vehicles and invested in a range of low-loader trailers.

Van der Vlist explained that its technical services division configures the trucks and trailers in its own workshops in Groot-Ammers, Assen and Rijssen in the Netherlands, and Poznań, Poland.

Van der Vlist added that in the coming year it will open an additional workshop in Schelluinen, the Netherlands.
