Gulliver travels with MirTac

November 3 - Scaldis Salvage and Marine Contractors have agreed to implement the MirTac's StarIPS Fleet Management solution on board the former's newly built heavy lift vessel Gulliver.

MirTac will support Scaldis with the standarisation of procedures and processes on board and the management of maintenance, purchasing, safety and environmental regulations, and more. Big data will be managed through easy-to-use analysis and reporting.

Frank Elskens, ceo of Scaldis, comments: "Gulliver is our innovative newbuild with a lifting capacity of 4,000 tonnes. Currently in the process of being commissioned, the vessel will be ready for operations in early 2018."

Antwerp-based Scaldis Salvage and Marine Contractors is an offshore contractor performing projects involving marine-based transport and heavy lift equipment. The company's fleet consists of multipurpose seagoing heavy lift vessel Rambiz and newbuild DP II heavy lift vessel Gulliver, ordered in 2015, as HLPFI reported here.

Both are suitable for platform installation and removal, wreckage removal and other special heavy lifting tasks such as the installation of offshore wind farms.

The ship can also be used for any type of marine-related heavy lifting work in challenging situations, such as the construction of bridge components and clearing subsea obstacles. The provision of a helipad in combination with accommodation for 78 people means Scaldis is capable of providing a varied range of additional services.
