January 25 - Posh Terasea secured the contract to tow and position the Shell Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) platform from South Korea to Australia.

Posh Terasea will tow the platform 3,000 nautical miles from Samsung Shipyard in Geoje, South Korea to the Browse LNG Basin, 200 km off the northwest coast of Australia.

"Towing and positioning a floating facility that is about four times the size of a football field from South Korea to a gas field in Australia will be a massive and complex undertaking," stated president and director of Posh Terasea, Eric Ng.

To complete the project, Posh Terasea will mobilise five vessels: four large anchor handling and towage vessels, plus one 16,000 BHP anchor handling tug supply vessel, Posh Champion.

The Shell Prelude FLNG facility is 488 m long by 74 m wide and has a fully loaded displacement capacity of about 600,000 tonnes, said Posh Terasea.

POSH Terasea recently towed the Glen Lyon FPSO from Korea to Norway.
