Earlier in the year, the SC&RA Foundation also unveiled a new corporate named scholarship and grant programme. Four companies have committed to a scholarship: TerexMammoet USABennett International Group; andSouthern Industrial Constructors.

Since the launch of the scholarship and grant scheme in 1998 almost USD500,000 has been awarded to employees and their families.

In the last academic year, six scholarship recipients received USD3,000 and four grants of USD1,500 were made, says Earl Johnson, Foundation president.

To be eligible for a scholarship or grant, an individual must be an employee of a SC&RA member company working more than 20 hours a week; spouses, children, stepchildren; grandchildren; step-grandchildren of employees; part or full-time student; or certificates or degree majors related to the industry.
