September 15 - Royal Wagenborg has announced that the 17,300 dwt multipurpose vessel Africaborg has been sold and delivered to new owners, meaning the Dutch shipping line will no longer charter the vessel.

Africaborg, measuring 143 m in length and 21.5 m in width, was built by the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group in 2007.

Meanwhile, Wagenborg's vessel Mississippiborg transported two cable baskets, containing 90 km of fibre optic cable, from Drammen, Norway to Eemshaven, the Netherlands.

Upon arrival in Eemshaven a floating crane lifted the cable baskets, which weighed 100 tonnes and 220 tonnes respectively, out of the vessel's hold and positioned them on the quayside of the Wagenborg terminal.

The fibre optic cables will be transhipped on a cable laying vessel at a later date.

In a separate project, Wagenborg's vessel Amazoneborg loaded several concrete units and beams in Dublin, Ireland, for onward shipment to Milne Inlet in Canada.
