June 10 - ALE has completed construction of the sixth and final Trojan truck.

The project was part of a programme initiated by ALE's UK branch to build six specialised heavy haulage ballast tractors that could move heavier, larger loads whilst offering fuel efficiency and reliability.

HLPFI reported in October 2014 that ALE had introduced the first two Trojan truck units. The six 8 x 8 vehicles were built at ALE's facility in Hixon, Staffordshire over three years.

Since the first Trojan truck moved a load on the UK's road network in 2014, it is estimated that the fleet has collectively moved in excess of 18,300 tonnes across the UK to date.

Gary Butler, ALE's operational project manager, who oversaw the build team, explained that the company is pleased with the trucks' performance so far and continues to make improvements and enhancements.

One of the trucks is currently working on a major power plant project in Egypt, while another is busy in Oman.
