Express Global Logistics (EXG) has completed a complex transportation project which involved transporting eight critical blowdown tanks to the Western India.
Collectively, the blowdown tanks weighed 541.52 tonnes, with each tank measuring 17.35 m x 6.9 m x 7.2 m. Both their dimensions and their critical importance to petrochemical operations – for Mundra Petrochem – meant that specialised handling was required.
EXG’s pre-planning for the project included conducting thorough route surveys, identifying potential obstacles along the way, measuring bridge clearances, assessing road conditions, and determining infrastructure modification requirements. The use of 96 hydraulic axles ensured the safe transport of the tanks, with weight distributed across multiple points to ensure stability and prevent road damage.
Furthermore, EXG – member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in India – obtained permits for the movement of oversized cargo; arranged temporary power line shutdowns; modified toll plaza facilities; and coordinated port loadout operations at the site. The latter involved proper positioning, crane operations, and vessel loading while adhering to international safety standards.
HLPFI reported last month that EXG had transported key airport infrastructure components – also to Western India.
