July 25 - Global shipping line ANL will begin direct services from the Port of Townsville, Australia to Malaysia, Singapore and Jakarta, effective August 2017.

The extension to ANL's APR service will provide a regular 22 day transit from Port Kelang, Malaysia, with two Townsville calls a month. It will also feature ANL's express service to Kelang, with a transit time of only 12 days.

Chris Schultz, ANL general manager business development, said: "Our service is run with multipurpose vessels and therefore caters for containerised exports and imports as well as project cargoes.

"The direct connection to major transhipment hubs in Southeast Asia means customers now have easy reach to ports around the globe."

According to the Port of Townsville, ANL's container services typically carry freight such as solar farm equipment, household items and retail goods, as well as refrigerated and project cargoes.
