January 14 - The second of four MC Class vessels under construction for BigRoll Shipping - BigRoll Bering - has been launched at China's Cosco Dalian Shipyard.

HLPFI reported in November 2015 that the first vessel - BigRoll Barentsz - had been launched by the Chinese shipyard, with delivery scheduled for March 2016.

The construction of BigRoll Bering remains on schedule, says the shipping company, with delivery still expected in May 2016.

The remaining two vessels - BigRoll Baffin and BigRoll Beaufort - are scheduled for respective delivery in the second half of 2016 and early 2017.

Directly after delivery from the yard the first two vessels will enter into a multi-year contract with Yamgaz - the consortium of Technip, JGC Corporation and Chiyoda - for module transportation as part of the Yamal LNG project in Russia.

The Finnish Swedish 1A Ice Class vessels have the ability to operate in temperatures as low as - 59°C, while the large, flush, unobstructed deck and the high service speed make the MC Class a perfect fit for the Yamal project, said BigRoll.
