The port of Bilbao now forms a part of MSC’s weekly direct service connecting Northern Europe with the West Coast of South America.

Bilbao will be the last port of call on the Iberian Peninsula and the penultimate port in Europe before the voyage to South America, offering swift transit times and imports from the hinterland. The service, which commenced December 20, will be operated with the largest container ships that the Bilbao container terminal has received to date.
Ivan Jimenez, president of Bilbao Port Authority, said the move consolidates Bilbao’s position as a leading port in the Atlantic Arc and “opens up new opportunities for the industrial and export fabric of our region”.
HLPFI reported earlier this year that the port of Bilbao had teamed up with Aquitania Ports Link, comprising the French ports of Bayonne, Bordeaux, Rochefort and Tonnay-Charente, and La Rochelle.
