France’s BrestPort and Ireland’s Shannon Foynes Port Company (SFPC) have formalised a strategic partnership, underpinned by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The MoU sets the stage for collective initiatives aimed at supporting the development of the floating offshore wind market across the Celtic Sea and Atlantic Ocean. With this, the ports intend on encouraging industrial cooperation whilst driving economic growth, technological innovation, and sustainability – driven principally by knowledge exchange and operational collaborations.
“Through this partnership, we are forging a vital link between our ports to support the rapid deployment of floating offshore wind infrastructure and to position our regions at the forefront of Europe’s energy transition,” said Christophe Chabert, ceo of BrestPort.
Pat Keating, ceo of SFPC, added: “By leveraging our respective strengths, we aim to develop a world-class supply chain that not only advances national objectives but also contributes meaningfully to European energy security and sustainable development.”
Both ports remain open to additional ports joining the framework.
