February 2 - The new British all-cargo airline, CargoLogicAir (CLA), has been awarded its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
Headquartered at London's Stansted Airport, CLA will offer cargo services on scheduled and charter flights, and says that it aims to take a strong position in the all-cargo and outsize logistics solutions sectors.
CLA says it is an "independent airline" with its own executive management team and fleet.
Former vice president, sales at Ruslan International, Dmitry Grishin, has been appointed ceo of CLA. He is joined by Peter van de Pas as chief operating officer, who has held senior positions at KLM and Cargolux; and Steven Harvey, who joins CLA as chief commercial officer, having previously served as regional charter sales manager, EMEA at Atlas Air.
CLA has taken delivery of its first Boeing 747-400 freighter from Air Castle and will add a second 747 freighter to its fleet in July 2016. The new airline expects to have a fleet of five B747 freighters by April 2018.
"We believe that the all-cargo airline business model has its place on the market and that we can achieve sustainable growth by specialising in outsize and flexible solutions for our customers," said Grishin. "We are open to cooperation with all who share the same passion for cargo as we do."
CLA says that it will announce its routes and operations schedule in due course.
