Cargolux and Chapman Freeborn take plaudits

February 28 - During Air Cargo Africa 2011, organised by STAT TIMES, Cargolux took the 'International Award for Excellence in Air Cargo' in the category 'International All-Cargo Carrier of the Year in Africa', whilst Chapman Freeborn landed the Air Charte

Cargolux's award was presented to Georges Biwer, Head of Cargolux's Area 4 - Africa, who also participated in the round table conference on 'Integrating Africa's potential with global needs'.

Iain Clark, regional manager for Chapman Freeborn Africa, was present to collect the award on behalf of the company. He commented: "With offices in Entebbe, Uganda, and Johannesburg, South Africa, Chapman Freeborn now has a well established presence in the African market."

In early 2009 Chapman Freeborn identified Entebbe as the location for its first African office and a headquarters for aircraft charter and leasing operations across the continent. One factor was its proximity to areas like Somalia and Darfur for human relief operations, another was the opportunity to transit equipment involved in mining, telecoms, and the energy industry, all of which are expanding sectors in the region.
