December 18 - C.H. Robinson has created an Oil and Gas Solutions division to capitalise on the rapid demand in the sector.

C.H. Robinson has positioned director of business development, Kent Stuart, to manage the new venture. C.H. Robinson has also hired Corey Gear, who has over 20 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, to bolster the company's existing oil and gas resources.

"Oil and gas companies are experts in their business, but as demand for their products has increased, we are seeing the limitations that can occur with their fragmented supply chains," said Chris O'Brien, senior vice president at C.H. Robinson. "The opportunities in the oil and gas industry focus on supply chain management and logistics needs now, more than ever."

By utilising its large ocean, air, project logistics and over the road carrier networks, C.H. Robinson says it is helping oil and gas companies expand into new markets. Moreover, it says that by eliminating the need of coordinating with an array of independent transportation suppliers and warehouses, the supply chain can be managed more efficiently.

C.H. Robinson's Oil and Gas Solutions business aims to also put the company's global technology platform - Navisphere - to use, in order to eliminate gaps in communication between the shipper and its suppliers and customers.
