Shortsea shipping specialist CLdN is planning to expand its Zeebrugge - Teesport route and will consider setting up a new Rotterdam - Teesport freight route if customer demand proves sufficient.

CLdN launched its Zeebrugge - Teesport service in 2023 and expanded capacity on the route earlier this year. The carrier said it remains committed to servicing this market having signed a long-term agreement with PD Ports, the owners of Teesport.

CLdN is a leading provider of ro-ro connectivity between mainland Europe and the eastern coast of the UK. At Zeebrugge, customers can place cargo in one terminal hub and choose to ship to any one of CLdN’s three terminals on the England’s east coast: Purfleet (London), Killingholme (Humberside) and Teesport. Gary Walker, chief operating officer of CLdN’s shipping activities, commented: “The arrival of the two new 8,400 lane metre hybrid ro-ro newbuilds (Chaumine and Leonine) has further enhanced our ability to ship unaccompanied freight across the North Sea with lower CO2 emissions than any of our competitors.”

HLPFI reported in April 2025 hat CLdN will boost handling capacity at Killingholme terminal on the River Humber following a multimillion-pound investment, with the project due for completion in the second half of 2026. It comes amidst CLdN’s projected volume growth on its North Sea connection between Killingholme and its terminals in Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.
