Cool replacement for Wagenborg

January 21 - Wagenborg Nedlift has replaced a 103-tonne rotation cooler, which was 24.5 m long with a diameter of 3.5 m, at the BP Refinery in Lingen, Germany.

The 2006 cooling unit was no longer suitable so Wagenborg's engineering department developed a new technical concept for the exchange operation.

Wagenborg transported the new cooling unit from its fabrication site in Stassfurt to the project site in Lingen on 16 axle lines of conventional trailer.

While the new unit was kept in temporary storage, a skidding system was assembled at the site and the old cooler positioned on the skidding track, before being lifted by two 200-tonne capacity cranes onto SPMTs for transport to the storage area.

The cranes loaded the new unit onto the same SPMTs and a reverse skidding operation was performed to deliver the new cooler onto its foundations.
