September 8 - Crane Rental Corporation has recovered a customer's Manitowoc 4600 dragline that had slipped off a bank below 70 ft (21.3 m) of water.

Crane Rental supplied a lift director, skilled riggers, certified crane operators, and cranes to perform the tandem lift.

A 500-tonne capacity Manitowoc 2250 crawler crane and 600-tonne capacity Terex AC 500-2 were used to lift the machine, which had a total weight of approximately 219 tonnes.

Crane Rental was required to prepare pre-lift plans and submit them to the Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) for approval before beginning the job.

During the project, professional divers surveyed the machine, while engineers had to assess and predict the components' stored energy before the divers could cut the boom, mast and heavy-duty wire rope under water.

Crane Rental Corporation is a member of the Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE) network for the USA.
