The new MHCs will increase berth productivity at both PortMiami and the port of Houston.

Each equipped with electric drive, tower extension and custom pads, the Liebherr LHM 550 MHCs will be deployed across Seaboard Marine’s private terminals at PortMiami and Port Houston. The cranes have an outreach of 54 m and a configured lifting capacity of 104 tonnes apiece, whilst also accommodating New-Panamax vessels.

At PortMiami, the cranes will support growth in breakbulk shipments and refrigerated cargo handling. In Houston, they will support the terminal’s multipurpose service model.

The partnership between Liebherr and Seaboard Marine began in 2001, with the latter having already operated eight cranes from the German manufacturer.

HLPFI reported earlier this month that DP World Constanța in Romania had added two Liebherr LHM 600s.
