July 9 - The German port of Cuxhaven has handled the last of 80 monopile foundations and transition pieces built by AMBAU GmbH, destined for the Windpark Meerwind S

Over the last 18 months, AMBAU has used more than 85,000 tonnes of steel and over 48,000 sq ft of storage space within the port of Cuxhaven, which promotes itself as a optimal location for the construction of offshore wind farms.

Jens Assheuer, CEO of WindMW GmbH in Bremerhaven, which is behind the development, says: "With the completion of the last transition piece we are well on schedule, which is an important milestone. Construction of the turbines can now commence. The infield submarine cables are already installed to meet our goal to complete the construction work by the end of 2013."
