November 24 - Organisers of the first Breakbulk South America Congress 2011, to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil from December on 6-7 are asking heavy lift and project forwarders interested in attending the event not to lose the opportunity totake advantage o

Those attending the event are due to hear presentations on topics such as: a multipurpose fleet outlook; public ports versus private terminals; rebirth of Brazilian cabotage; can South American infrastructure catch up; and, infrastructure challenges forbreakbulk and project cargo. Delegates will participate in discussions withspeakers as well as undertaking face-to-face meetings.

Speakers and panellists are due to include: Susan Oatway, senior consultant, Drewry Shipping Consultants;Frederico Amancio, vice president, Port of SuapeLuiz Philippe Figueiredo, managing director, Graninter;Kevin Tang, Director, Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Brazil has quadrupled its trade in the last decade. Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia are emerging as major large-scale investors in infrastructure projects, power and energy and construction sectors. The forthcoming World Cup 2014 and Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016 should generate significant heavy lift and project cargo forwarding as the country improves its infrastructure to support the events.
