October 25 - German company, Global Boat Shipping, has transported five pontoons from Rotterdam to Kaliningrad, Russia, for use in the construction of a new World Cup stadium.

GBS handled the shipment of a 140-tonne crane pontoon, which was 25 m long, 10 m wide and 6.6 m high, and four 50-tonne floating pontoons, to Baltiysk in Kaliningrad, where they will be used to transport steel parts for the new Arena Baltika in the centre of the city. 

Construction of the USD318 million stadium, which will house 45,000 spectators, will begin next year and should be completed by 2017 in time for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Global Boat Shipping, based in Leer, Germany, is a member of the EMS-Fehn-Group and specialises in the worldwide transportation of motor and sailing yachts, as well as other kinds of cargo.
