Italy-based shipping firm Grimaldi Group has taken delivery of and christened Grande Istanbul, the fourth in a series of seven ammonia-ready PCTC vessels on order at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) and China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSTC).

The vessel measures 200 m x 38 m and has a loading capacity of 9,241 ceu, with four decks also capable of carrying heavy loads of up to 250 tonnes and as high as 6.5 m.
Grande Istanbul will make its maiden voyage on Grimaldi’s regular East Asia – Persian Gulf service. As well as more than 2,000 cars and around 1,000 vans, the vessel will transport 4,800 linear m of other rolling cargo which will include breakbulk cargo, cranes, trailers, trucks and excavators, to Jebel Ali, UAE.
Grande Istanbul follows fellow ammonia-ready PCTC vessels Grande Melbourne, Grande Auckland and Grande Tianjin.
