Kran Saller erects turbines

February 4 - Kran Saller GmbH based in Deggendorf, Germany has used a mobile crane to erecte five wind turbines over the course of five weeks at a wind energy farm in Dagebüll, Germany.

An auxiliary mobile crane provided valuable support services during the operations.

Seven components had to be installed on each turbine, which were manufactured by Senvion, and each has a capacity of 3.4 MW.

The heaviest load for the larger mobile crane was the rotor star at 61 tonnes which had to be installed at a hub height of 80 m.

The mobile crane hoisted this load to a hook height of 90 m at a radius of 20.5 m, which required it to be equipped with telescopic boom guying, a 15 m V2 telescopic boom extension, a 35 m luffing jib and 144 tonnes of ballast.

Kran Saller plans to open additional sites in Rottal-Inn and in Straubing, Germany in March 2016.
