May 21 - Liebherr Sunderland Works has won a prestigious award for business enterprise, 20 years after it was established in the North East of England.

The manufacturer of maritime cranes and cargo handling equipment has been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade. This award recognises and rewards outstanding achievement by UK companies; the international trade category recognises companies that have demonstrated significant growth in overseas earnings and commercial success.

Liebherr Sunderland Works managing director Ralph Saelzer says: "We are delighted to receive this award, it is a great honour and one which we could not have achieved without the dedication of our skilled workforce."

More than 850f the equipment produced at the company's production facility in Sunderland goes to markets in China, Singapore and South Korea. Overseas sales have increased by more than 40ince 2005.
