Danish shipping firm Norden has entered into lease agreements with purchase options for six multipurpose vessels as it aims to grow its presence further in the project cargo market.
Among the six ships are four newbuilds slated for delivery in 2027/2028, plus two used vessels currently trading in Norden’s fleet.
Norden highlighted strong projected demand in the multipurpose shipping sector, alongside a rapidly ageing fleet and a limited orderbook, as key factors behind its decision to expand its fleet.
Norden also entered into a similar deal for a handysize bulker newbuilding that is scheduled for delivery in 2026. This brings Norden to 18 new lease agreements with purchase options so far in 2025.
HLPFI reported in May 2025 that Norden had signed a lease deal for a pair of multipurpose newbuilds.
