French civil works company Marc has placed an order with Damen Shipyards for a pontoon that will be used to support activities at the port of Brest.

Marc, which serves the urban, rural, road, rail, maritime and environmental sectors, uses its pontoons to complete harbour and quayside operations.

According to Damen, this latest addition to its fleet will also be used by Société Coopérative des Lamaneurs – a cooperative society responsible for the berthing, docking and undocking of commercial vessels in the port of Brest.

Damen sales manager Alexandre Richerd said: “We see relatively high demand for pontoons in France generally at the moment; this is the second order in a very short space of time.”

The Dutch shipbuilding group added that Brest, in particular, is experiencing an increase in navy and marine renewables activity as well as civil works projects, leading to more demand for pontoons.
