October 7 - Martin Bencher Poland has delivered two shipments of four automatic stacking cranes from Shanghai to Rotterdam's ECT Delta terminal.
The cargo, which had a total volume of 3,418 cu m, consisted of four main girders, each of which weighed 51 tonnes and had the dimensions 24.6 m x 4.2 m x 4 m.
Martin Bencher explained that the project was particularly challenging since the terminal of discharge was not yet certified for handling heavy cargo. Consequently the units had to be discharged by a vessel's gear, with a 32 m outreach, onto a discharge lane, which was 25 m away from the ship's side.
The weight of the main girders required the vessel's two heavy cranes to be used in tandem to offload these units.
