Finnish shipping company Meriaura has signed an agreement to time-charter two dry cargo vessels from Klip Marine.
The Groot eco-freighter vessels have a cargo capacity of 5,200 tonnes/7,822 cu m and an ice class 1A notation.
“These ships offer roughly 30 percent more cargo capacity than our oldest vessels, which they are set to replace,” Meriaura explained. “Thanks to their significantly improved fuel efficiency, they will substantially support our emission reduction targets.”
The first vessel is expected to join the fleet at the beginning of 2026, and the second during the second quarter.
“The fleet renewal is progressing rapidly,” the company continued, “as in addition to these vessels, the two bio-oil capable Eco Trader ships we have ordered will also enter service next year.”
In May 2025, Meriaura held the official keel laying ceremony for its Ecotrader NB 832 vessel.
