GRI Renewable Industries and Mitsui & Co. (USA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to discuss the formation of a joint venture company that will manufacture offshore wind turbine towers in the USA.
North America’s largest steel producer and recycler Nucor will serve as a strategic partner to the proposed Mitsui-GRI joint venture, providing sustainable steel for offshore wind tower construction, including heavy-gauge steel plate.
The facility is proposed on the USA’s East Coast, with a start-up date of 2026.
