April 8 - Target Logistics WLL has become the third registered member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) in Qatar.

According to B Gopakumar, general manager at the Doha headquartered forwarder: "Target Logistics has completed massive projects in the petroleum industry and handled huge shipments of airport construction materials in liaison with Thyssen Krupp, one of the biggest airport construction specialists in the world. Project and exhibition cargo is now the speciality of our company."

He added that the company is gearing up for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in order "to cope and compete with some of the global giants in our field".

The company has recently executed a heavy project shipment on behalf of Danem Engineering, Qatar, and Altoukhi Company for Industry, Trading & Contracting (Saudi Arabia).

The job consisted of loading and shifting steel structures from Doha to Saudi Arabia across the Abu Samra and Salwa borders. Eight pieces each measuring 5 m x 5.5 m x 3 m with a combined weight of 52.6 tonnes were transported on heavy-duty low bed trailers.

"Due to the nature of the OOG cargo, we had great difficulty in covering the first 50-60 km through single lane traffic. As the traffic rules are very rigid and stringent, we had to arrange police escort vehicles to accompany the trucks as part of the safety measures," explained Gopakumar.
