March 13 - Netherlands headquartered shipping line NileDutch has enhanced its Asia-West Africa container service by chartering a 4,250 teu vessel onto the route.

Jan Willem de Braal, chief operating officer of NileDutch, said that traditionally the line has used 3,100-3,600 teu geared vessels on the service and with the addition of the new, larger ship "we expect to see more project cargo".

"The ships are bigger and that makes it easier to accommodate project cargo," and although the vessel is not geared, Jan Willem de Braal considered that it can be easier to handle large project cargoes using shoreside crane capacity.

And although not all terminals on the service will have appropriate cranes to handle project loads, NileDutch will be continue to accommodate out-of-gauge cargoes using its geared fleet.

NileDutch operates an almost weekly service connecting Asia with West Africa using a 12 vessel fleet.

The NileDutch service connecting Asia with West Africa is served by 12 ships and operates an almost weekly schedule. NileDutch also connects Europe, South America and South Africa to West Africa.
