Norbert Dentressangle celebrates steel centenary

June 17 - In celebration of the 100th anniversary since the invention of stainless steel, international logistics services provider and freight forwarder, Norbert Dentressangle, has transported two 3 m tall horse heads from Scotland on behalf of Outokumpu

Scottish sculptor Andy Scott designed the horse heads, also known as kelpies. Finland headquartered Outokumpu Stainless - a leading provider of high performance alloys - supplied the sheet metal to form the unique sculptures.
Norbert Dentressangle was tasked with shifting each 1.4 tonne kelpie from Falkirk, Scotland to a major exhibition at the University of Sheffield - and on a tour of the city's streets. The kelpies have also been on display at Outokumpu's UK headquarters in Sheffield.
In 1913 Harry Brearley, a Sheffield steelworker and metallurgist, discovered that by adding chromium to molten iron produced a 'rustless steel' - which was later renamed stainless steel.
