December 7 - Orchid Shipping has shipped a soybean crusher plant to Alexandria, Egypt from Mumbai, India on behalf of Oilex.

The consignment included one bulky piece weighing 46 tonnes and measuring 26.2 m x 3.9 m x 3.9 m, as well as accessories which were transported on five 40 ft flatracks, two 40 ft open-top containers and one 20 ft container.

The oversize piece was shipped on Höegh Autoliners' ro-ro vessel Höegh Yokohama using a Mafi trailer. The containers were loaded on a ZIM vessel.

A number of ro-ro vessels were deemed unsuitable for the project because of the length of the unit and the angle of the ro-ro ramp. Upon arrival of the vessel in Mumbai, it took eight hours before the angle of the ramp was such that the loading could take place without causing damage to the centrepiece of the plant.
