May 13 - Rickmers Group and Rickmers-Linie ceo Ron Widdows has been inducted into the Annual International Maritime Hall of Fame.
Widdows was recognised for his contribution to the global maritime industry at a ceremony in New York, May 8, 2013, attended by 400 industry colleagues.
He was one of six people awarded the prize at the ceremony. Other inductees included: Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller, chairman, A.P. Møller-Maersk (posthumous award); and Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York City.
Widdows joined Rickmers in February 2012. He was formerly ceo of global container transport firm NOL/APL and has 40 years of experience in the shipping industry.
"I am truly honoured to be selected for this prestigious award and am delighted to accept. It has been a privilege to be involved in such an interesting and dynamic industry and to work with so many fine colleagues over the years," said Widdows.
