October 18 - Southampton Cargo Handling (SCH) has launched a new service for forwarders offering specialist cargo loading services on flatrack containers at the UK's Port of Southampton.

SCH - which offers stevedoring services for ro-ro cargoes in the UK port - will use its knowledge of securing and lashing high and heavy ro-ro cargoes to load out-of-gauge and conventional cargoes on 20 ft, 40 ft and 45 ft flatracks at a new facility close to Southampton's container port.

"We will provide a turnkey service, including the provision of flatracks and trailers, expert securing and lashing and transport to the point of loading," said SCH operations director Lee Davis.

"Securing large cargoes, particularly out-of-gauge loads, on flatracks requires specialist expertise and we will use our considerable experience to ensure that every piece of equipment we secure meets the relevant criteria in this area."
