February 8 - ALE has taken delivery of 240 axle lines of Scheuerle's new generation of self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT).

The new trailers have a capacity of 60 tonnes per axle line, which ALE says makes them the world's highest capacity SPMTs.

The vehicles also have a much higher bending moment capacity than other models, said ALE, which enables the trailers to carry heavier loads at higher speeds.

ALE says that it decided to purchase the latest generation trailers as part of its global fleet investment. The new axle lines will add an extra 14,400 tonnes of capacity to its existing trailer fleet.

"By investing in the latest generation of trailers it positions us at the forefront of the industry, pushing the boundaries for the world's highest SPMT capacity and solving challenges for our clients," said ALE's technical director Ronald Hoefmans.

These trailers will mainly be utilised across branches in the UK and the Netherlands, added ALE.
