March 3 - Silk Way Group will purchase three Boeing 747-8 freighter aircraft as per the agreement signed by the two parties in December 2014.

HLPFI reported on January 9, 2015 that Boeing and Azerbaijan-based Silk Way West were finalising terms and working toward a purchase agreement for the three aircraft.

The final agreement was signed by the president of Silk Way Group, Zaur Akhundov, and Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president Marty Bentrott. The contract has been valued at more than USD1.1 billion.

Jahangir Asgarov, the president of Azerbaijan Airlines and Robert Cekuta, the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, also attended the signing ceremony.

Bentrott hailed Silk Way Group's cooperation with Boeing, and expressed confidence that the agreement would be beneficial for both sides.
