February 17 - AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has recorded a 30 percent year-on-year increase in tonnage for January 2016, transporting 43,605 tonnes of cargo on board its Boeing freighter fleet.

ABC says that this strong performance is mostly attributed to last year's expansion of its fleet and network, with newly-launched destinations including Singapore, Hanoi, Helsinki, Los Angeles and Atlanta. The airline also added three B747 freighters to its fleet in 2015.

"2016 will be another challenging year for ABC and a certain milestone of our growth," said ABC executive president Denis Ilin.

Despite the company's recent development and expansion, Ilin noted that ABC is being asked by clients for direct cargo services to destinations that the airline is still missing in its network.

HLPFI reported on February 16 that ABC had launched twice-weekly B747 freighter services to Africa under an ACMI contract with CargoLogicAir (CLA).
