Sweden’s Ports of Stockholm is progressing with the construction of Stockholm Norvik Port, which is set to open in May 2020.

The deepwater port, according to Ports of Stockholm, will be a game-changer for cargo handling in the Baltic Sea area.

Clemence Cheng, managing director, Europe at Hutchison Ports, which will handle the container operations, said: “The new port will be the only deepwater container facility on the east coast of Sweden. Stockholm Norvik Port will deliver both economic and environmental benefits by reducing overland transport, bringing ships and cargo closer to the country’s largest market.”
