November 3 - Port Manatee has handled the export shipment of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) heat exchanger, manufactured at Air Products' production facility close to the port in Florida, USA.

The huge unit - which weighed almost 500 tons (450 tonnes) and measured 15 ft (4.5 m) in diameter by 180 ft (54 m) long - was transported from Air Products' facility across the highway to the port's Berth 12, where it was loaded onto one of BigLift Shipping's heavy lift vessel, Happy Delta, by Logistec USA stevedores.

Betsy Benac, chairwoman of the Manatee County Port Authority, said: "Expert shipment of special project cargoes of such dimensions proves the outstanding ability of Port Manatee and its partners to handle such large and heavy pieces."

Air Products began production at its Port Manatee facility in 2014 and rolled out the first completed LNG heat exchanger in September of this year.
